Our how / Make the numbers useful
The best system
is the one that fits.
Capacity is not a bigger-is-better number. Equipment selection needs to account for the home’s heating and cooling load, ductwork, airflow, electrical supply, controls, and installation conditions.
What do SEER2, EER2, and HSPF2 mean?
SEER2 describes seasonal cooling efficiency, EER2 cooling efficiency under specified test conditions, and HSPF2 seasonal heat-pump heating efficiency. Compare matched systems using the same rating method.
What does AFUE tell me?
AFUE expresses a furnace’s annual fuel utilization efficiency under test conditions. It does not include duct losses or predict your specific gas bill.
Why do ratings say “up to”?
Performance varies with capacity, indoor/outdoor equipment matching, controls, installation and operating conditions. Ask for the exact model combination and its AHRI certificate in your written proposal.
What about the warranty?
Parts, labor, heat-exchanger and unit-replacement coverage are different. Registration, ownership, maintenance and other conditions can apply. Ask for the model-specific warranty certificate and any separate labor coverage in writing.
What will the installed system cost?
Equipment is one part of the project. Your quote should state models, installation work, exclusions, controls, any duct or electrical changes, and coverage. HYPE can help you compare those details.
